Visions crowd my weary eyes,
Each, in truth, death in disguise.
Listen now to my weathered tongue,
As I recall my years so young,
Playing wildly, sun on my face,
T'was then I found you in that place.
You showed to me your slender hand.
Time in an hour glass; but falling sand.
You smiled at me, and asked me "friend?"
What began that day would never end.
We played each day beneath bright sky.
How quickly life has passed me by.

Teenage years had found their time,
We hold strongly to Love sublime.
That was when we first had kissed.
It is that day I've always missed,
For love is as the moon in pains,
As it waxes, it also wanes.
We'd just begun to understand,
And yet once more you showed your hand.
The hourglass was yet still full...
Grain by grain through tiny hole.

We skip ahead, my time is nigh,
The cherished love, now held so high.
We stand in white at church's gate,
Doves fly by, I've found my mate.
Rice is thrown, we disappear,
Honeymooning for one full year.
In our arms there's someone new,
from our love, our daughter grew.
We did our best to make her smile,
Though we had quarreled all the while.
Even then, how I cherished you,
Sometimes love just can't show through.

The years roll on, she's now grown,
Brilliant flower from small seed sown,
And how you wept that so-cruel day,
She's our daughter; now moved away.
In ripe age our fights now cease,
We live our days in dream-like peace.
Yet the sands grow smaller still,
And death creeps closer unto his kill.

The winter had come all to fast,
Blazing hearth recalls the past.
The love still there in all we do,
In each thought, I thought of you.
The time had come, I grew ill,
The sand grew smaller, smaller still.

So here I wait in bed this day,
Death impatient, I can't stay,
And still you extend to me your hand,
The time is slipping, falling sand.
I'll not regret the past we share.
Your hands so warm and full of care....
I feel so sad to see you weep,
Yet I depart, my final sleep.
I loved you till my final breath,
My last thought, in arms of death.

Though only mediocre, I actually cried when writing this. As if this mans life was my own. I will try to do better next time. (It seems to start off poorly and grow stronger with the repitition of the hourglass.)

With every single piece in it's place, we go on living without balance.
As much as we desire, as much as our hearts desire....
Beneath the same sky we were born under, let light and shadow repeat.
Wow, now that's a powerful poem. It paints such a beautiful picture in my head of a long true romance, of a real love. This is a great piece that you should be proud of; not only for its subject, but for the fact you kept your rhyme throughout the poem. It’s a wonderful piece that paints a picture with beautiful sentiments. I'm :+fav:-ing this because of that. Just Beautiful.

Ask the blind man, he saw it too.
Thank you so much. ^^ The Fave means a lot to me, and you're being so kind. I look forward to more of your works as well, Kagey-chan. You're such a kind person.

Thank you very much. But I love reading your romantic tales and woefully deep thoughts, they’re all a pleasure to read. Your poetry is so different from mine yet the same. A kindred spirit if you will. :D

I have already fully told you what I think. ^^ IT IS BEAUTIFUL! ^^ Favourite for sure. Brilliant job!
The repetitiong of the hour glass was a really good idea. I didn't cry, but I really got absorbed into the poem. There was karaoke-ing going on in the background and your poem drowned it out. Hehe, good job.
Thank you so much. ^^ I am glad you think it's great. (I actually had to take a lot of time on this one. lol)
